CHICAGO - UIC men's gymnastics freshman David Ishida was named the ECAC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.

The Woodside, Calif. native placed eighth on the parallel bars at the six-team Windy City Invitational on January 16. Ishida also had strong performances on pommel horse and rings, scoring points in both events in his first collegiate competition.

The UIC men's gymnastics team hits the road for a match-up with Temple University in Philadelphia on Sunday January 31 at 1:00 p.m.
