CHICAGO- The UIC men's gymnastics team opens the 2010 season against some of the nation's top squads when the PEB plays host to the 40th Annual Windy City Invitational 7:00pm this Saturday.

The 2009 defending ECAC champion Flames welcome five Big Ten foes this weekend when Illinois, Michigan, Ohio State, Minnesota and Iowa round out the six-team competition.

Standing as the largest and oldest men's gymnastics event in NCAA history, this year's Invite will be an exceptional presentation of the gymnasts' preparation for the Flames, with senior leadership from Nikolai Korepanov, Andrew Stover, and Andrew Crowley ready to lead UIC to a podium finish.

The Flames finished fifth out of six teams in 2009.

UIC finished last season as the ECAC Champions, advancing to the NCAA championships for the first time since 2004. Four individuals Nikolai Korepanov, David Mohr, Andrew Stover, and Neal Thompson advanced on their event specialties, and junior Andrew Stover placed 13th in the all-around finals.

As the season progresses Flames look forward to consistency and increased difficulty in routines.
