Men's Gymnastics Unable To Advance Representative To NCAA Championships
March 30, 2000 Chicago, Ill. -The UIC men's gymnastics team, which had 11 individuals competing at the 2000 NCAA National Qualifying Meet in Iowa City, Iowa, saw its season come to an end on Thursday as it was unable to advance a representative into the NCAA Individual Championships.
Anthony Cirullo had a strong meet, posting the Flames highest finish with his eighth-place showing on the vault (9.525). He missed advancing to the NCAA Championships by .025 of a point. Cirullo also placed tied for 15th on the floor exercise with a score of 9.600. He, once again, just missed advancing to the finals on Sunday, this time coming up .05 short.
Other top performances included, Erin Willingam's 9.550 on the pommel horse (22nd-tie), and David Johnson's 9.350 (20th) on the still rings, 9.175 (35th) on the floor exercise, and 9.150 (29th-tie) on the vault.
