PALO ALTO, Calif. - The UIC men's gymnastics team went up against the nation's best in preparation for the ECAC Championships next weekend, performing well against top-ranked Stanford in a 359.700-336.700 Flames loss on Saturday night.

Neal Thompson guided the squad with a runner-up finish on the pommel horse with a 14.450 showing against the Cardinal. Thompson would also place fourth on the parallel bars (14.550), while Nikolai Korepanov finished sixth on the still rings (14.300).

Andrew Stover placed fifth on the high bar with a 14.250 performance Saturday evening. The reigning ECAC Gymnast of the Week would go on to place second in the all-around competition with a score of 84.150.

The squad will close out the regular season next weekend in West Point, N. Y. at the ECAC Championships. The team finals will be held on April 4, and the individual finals will be held the following day.
