Five Individual Event Titles Highlight Men's Gymnastics Split With Nebraska And Air Force

CHICAGO - The UIC men's gymnastics team had five first-place finishes in the Flames double-dual meet against Nebraska and Air Force on Friday night. Entering the final rotation, the Flames held a .900 lead over Nebraska before performing on the high bar, but were overpowered by Nebraska, who won the team title with a 340.050 total. UIC finished second in 334.200 and Air Force rounded out the field with a 325.300 performance. Nikolai Korepanov took home yet another event title after his 14.700 performance on the rings, while sophomore Neal Thompson claimed the top spot on the pommel horse with a 13.800 score for first. Junior Andrew Stover placed first on the high bar 14.600, and Thompson capped off the meet by taking the all-around title with a 82.850 score. The Flames close out the 2009 home season with Senior Day against Air Force this Sunday at 2 p.m.
