Chicago, Ill. - Men's gymnastics coach CJ Johnson was pleased with his team's performance despite the Flames' 211.8-201.35 loss to Minnesota, Friday night at the Physical Education Building.

Johnson used a makeshift line-up on Friday night due to various injuries that have plagued his squad.

"I was happy for the team that we had out on the floor tonight," Johnson said. "They hit their routines and did all that they could do."

UIC received runner-up finishes from senior Anthony Cirullo (9.0, floor exercise), junior Matthew Soucie (8.75, pommel horse) and senior Dave Johnson (8.850, still rings).

Cirullo added a fourth-place finish on the vault (9.200) while Johnson tied for fifth on the parallel bars with an 8.3. Sophomore Mason Vernon turned in the Flames' top finish on the horizontal bar with a 8.55.

UIC (2-14) will travel to Annapolis, Maryland on Monday to take on the Naval Academy at 7PM.
