Men's Gymnastics Falls Short against No. 11 Air Force

CHICAGO - The UIC men's gymnastics team dropped a 421.850-405.550 decision versus No. 11 Air Force at the Physical Education Building Friday night. Junior Joseph Hodges racked up a tally of 84.100 in the all-around competition.

The Flames came up just short on the floor and parallel bars, falling short by less than one point. Air Force's Tory Brown scored a perfect 15.000 on the floor and a 14.750 on the bars, helping the Falcons edge the Flames in those events. He also recorded a first-place finish on the vault.

On the floor, Dan Zerbel racked up a 14.900, while Hodges collected a 14.050 and Jason Gaides tallied a 14.000. Hodges also scored a 14.300 on the pommel horse.

The Flames dropped a 73.050-71.050 decision on the rings, but four-of the five participants scored at least a 14.100, including a 15.050 tally by Trent Jarrett.

The Falcons out-scored the Flames 70.300-70.000 on the floor, 67.450-60.500 on the pommel horse, 73.050-71.050 on the rings, 72.250-70.700 on the vault, 70.300-69.650 on the parallel bars and 68.500-63.650 on the high bars.

UIC and Air Force will go head-to-head again on Sunday, with the meet set to begin at 1:00 p.m., from the PEB.
