Feb. 28, 2003
Chicago, Ill. - The #10 UIC men's gymnastics team competed as if it had something to prove on Friday night, as the Flames defeated Air Force with a season-best mark of 209.6-201.6 at the UIC Physical Education Building. Freshman Eric Novick had a big night with a trio of top-three finishes including the win on pommels with a score of 9.1. Faustino grabbed titles on rings (9.1), vault (9.35) and parallel bars (8.55) to go along with the all-around championship. Senior co-captain Jonathan Joyce also tallied three top-three finishes, as he won the high bar competition with a score of 9.15. Matt Musielak added a pair of runner-up finishes for UIC on parallel bars (8.5) and high bar (9.0). Aaron Jackson was the lone Falcon winner on the night taking the floor competition with a score of 9.05.
The Flames and Falcons will square off again on Sunday, March 2 at 2:00 p.m. at the UIC PEB.
