Men's Gymnastics Goes Down to the Wire at Air Force
Feb. 13, 2000 Colorado Springs, Colo. - For the second meeting in three days between the two teams, neither squad won an event by more than one point. Air Force won four of the six events, with the largest margin being .50 on high bar. Air Force totaled 222.800 points, barely outdistancing UIC's total of 222.50. Jeff Anderson won the all-around competition for the second consecutive meet with a 54.85.
AFA's Justin Jones won the floor exercise with a 9.425 while teammate James Hayes tied for second with a 9.275. On pommel horse, UIC's Erin Willingham placed first with a 9.70 while Anderson and Nate Drewry tied for second with 9.55. Falcon Javin Peterson won the rings competition with a 9.725. UIC's Michael D'Antino was second (9.65) and AFA's Fisher was third (9.50). Fisher won the vault with a 9.65 while Anderson was third with a 9.45. UIC's Anthony Cirullo was second with a 9.60. UIC won the parallel bars with a 37.10 team score and placed first and third in individual competition. Ram Krishnan was first with a 9.375 while teammate Greg Gabel was third with a 9.325. AFA's Levi Torkelson was second with a 9.35. Falcon Justin Jones won the high bar with a 9.25 while teammate Aaron Jackson was third with a 9.10.
