Men's Gymnastics Falls At Iowa
Feb. 4, 2000 Iowa City, Iowa -The No. 9 UIC men's gymnastics team fell to No. 6 Iowa by a score of 225.750-215.000 Friday night in Iowa City, Iowa. Jody Liebler was the top all-around performer for UIC, placing second overall with a score of 53.150.
Liebler's all-around performance was anchored by a first-place finish on the vault, where he won the event with a score of 9.600.
Erin Willingham and David Johnson also turned in a top-three finishes for UIC. Johnson finished in a tie for second on the still rings with a score of 9.400 while Willingham tied for third on the pommel horse with a 9.650.
Besides UIC's "one-two" finish with Liebler and Johnson on the vault, the Flames also fared well on the parallel bars. Both Justin Joyce and Greg Gabel finished in the top five on that event with scores of 9.200 and 9.125, respectively.
The Flames will face Iowa again in just two days at the Physical Education Building. The Hawkeyes will visit UIC on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 1:00 p.m.
