Men's Gymnastics Drops To Iowa|

CHICAGO -The UIC men's gymnastics team (1-6) defeated Iowa in the in the floor exercise, 55.700-54.600 and parallel bars, 55.100-53.700, but fell to the Hawkeyes, 332.100-325.200 Saturday inside the Physical Education Building in Chicago, Ill.
The Flames squad completed the first rotation, which consisted of the floor exercise and the pommel horse trailing Iowa, 109.200-108.300. Junior Dan Zerbel (Portage, Mich./Portage Central) claimed the top overall score in the floor routine with a 15.100, while sophomore Joseph Hodges (Webster, N.Y./Webster Christian) was the top UIC performer on the pommel horse with a 13.500.
Moving into the second rotation with the rings and vault, the Hawkeyes claimed both events. UIC fell 55.900-54.500 in the rings and 57.600-57.200 on the vault.
Led by junior David Ishida (Woodbridge, Calif./Lodi), who posted a 14.700, the Flames were able to top Iowa on the parallel bars by a 55.100-53.700 score. Despite the success on the bars, the Hawkeyes claimed the high bar 55.700-50.100, and were able to win the dual meet.
Members of the Flames squad return to action at the Winter Cup Invitational Thursday at 6:00 p.m. (CT) in Las Vegas, Nev.
