Chicago, Ill. - Excellent performances by Anthony May, Nikolai Korepanov, and Neal Thompson led the No. 12 UIC men's gymnastics team against No. 13 Iowa at the UIC Physical Education Building on Saturday night.

After earning ECAC honors a week ago, both May and Thompson continued to shine with magnificent all-around efforts. May took home the all-around crown posting an 82.550, while Thompson finished in a close second with a score of 82.350.

Thompson placed first in the parallel bars scoring a 14.700.

Even with May and Thompson carrying the Flames in their respective events, it wasn't enough as UIC fell to Iowa 338.575-334.750.

Nikolai Korepanov continued to highlight the evening with a miraculous still rings display. He took home the rings title with a score of 15.050. Korepanov also came in a close second on parallel bars posting a 14.650.

Other notables on the evening included second place finishes for Jeffrey Bill on vault (15.450) and Alex Kadar on still rings (14.600).

At the conclusion of the meet, senior Zarek Taylor was awarded the Edward J. Saleh Memorial Scholarship Award. The honor is awarded annually to a UIC gymnast who best exemplifies academic and athletic excellence representing the UIC men's gymnastics program.

UIC will be back in action Feb. 9 as they take on William & Mary at the UIC Physical Education Building (PEB) at 5 p.m. The men will also be competing alongside the UIC women's gymnastics team as they compete against Arizona.
