Chicago, Ill.- Senior Nick Stavros picked up a still rings win to pace the UIC men's gymnastics team against No. 5 Iowa at the UIC Physical Education Building on Saturday night.

A week after winning the pommel horse title at the Windy City Invitational, Stavros continued his winning ways with a first-place rings score of 9.100.

Junior Tim Morrison paced the Flames in the all-around with a second-place showing (48.400). Rookie teammate Anthony May was not far behind in his second all-around, posting a 48.050.

Morrison capped the meet with an exciting high bar routine, netting a team-best 9.15 to place second.

UIC's freshman class continued to make strides in a big way, as rookie Bobby Solomon led the team on vault with a third-place 9.2. Fellow freshman Nick Persino and 8.050 on parallel bars, while first-year performer Alex Kadar posted an 8.4 to place fourth on floor exercise.

Senior Phil Goss led the team on pommel horse with an 8.5.

The Flames easily surpassed their season-opening team score at Windy City Invitational by more than three points, posting a 200.800 to Iowa's 208.250.

UIC returns to action with a road contest at Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 p.m.
