Men's gymnastics coach CJ Johnson saw some things that he liked in UIC's dual meet with Ohio State on Friday night. Other things, however, did not appeal to him - such as the host Buckeyes' 208.200 - 198.675 victory at St. John's Arena.

"What's impressive to us," Johnson said. "Is that we're doing what I want to do and that is improve. We're staying together and I know that we have the capability of being a 200-plus team."

Senior Anthony Cirullo was the lone individual to score over a 9.0 on the floor exercise as he registered a 9.45 to win the overall title. Freshman Matt Musielak finished second to Cirullo on the floor exercise with an 8.75. The Freeburg native also placed first overall on the pommel horse with a 8.95.

"Cirullo did a real nice job," Johnson said. "And Musielak is coming around real well."

Senior Dave Johnson also turned in a solid effort as well as he garnered a first-place finish in the vault (9.15) and was a runner-up on the still rings (9.175). Johnson was also tops amongst UIC on the parallel bars with a score of 8.35.

Freshman Mason Vernon scored a team-high on the high bar for UIC with a score of 8.35.
