Sophomore men's gymnast Jason Gaides, who advanced to the 2013 NCAA Championships as an all-around specialist last spring, is Wednesday's featured student-athlete in the UICFlames.com "Forty Flames to Follow" in 2013-14 summer feature series.
As one of UIC's most active student-athletes, Lukasz Adamcyzk from the men's gymnastics team wears many hats. His accomplishments both in and out of the gym made him an easy choice to be recognized as one of "Forty Flames to Follow" heading into the 2013-14 athletic season. The summer series, which debuted on Monday, will alphabetically feature 40 returning UIC student-athletes once per day until early August.
Men's gymnast Joseph Hodges has been selected as the UICFlames.com Student-Athlete of the Week for the period of April 15-21 as announced by the athletic department on Wednesday morning. The junior took home ninth place in the all-around competition at the 2013 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships this past Saturday in University Park, Pa. His ninth-place showing is the highest ever finish for the UIC program.
While competing at the NCAA Championship from April 19-21, the UIC men's gymnastics team was featured on NCAA.com by columnist Rick Houston.
