Men's Basketball Heads To Detroit On Thursday To Take On The Titans

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's basketball team looks for its second straight victory on Thursday night, kicking off a pivotal three-game, Horizon League road trip by taking on Detroit in the Motor City at 6:00 p.m. CST.
The game will be aired live on ESPN Radio 1000 AM with Dave Wills and Dick Nagy bringing you all the action. You can also hear the game via the internet at uicflames.com and ESPNRadio1000.com.
The Flames (4-6, 0-1) will be vying for victory in one of the toughest road venues in the league as the Titans (3-7, 0-0) have won 90 of their last 100 games at Calihan Hall.
Detroit, which is coming off a loss at Chicago State on Dec. 23rd, owns a 16-6 lead in the all-time series with the Flames and is the only Horizon League team UIC failed to defeat last season en route to its school-record 24 wins.
Senior Cedrick Banks leads the Flames on the court and is averaging 16.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in seven career meetings with Detroit.
This contest also features a battle between the Horizon League's two longest tenured coaches in Jimmy Collins and Perry Watson. The duo has combined for over 350 wins and 21 years of service at their respective schools.
The Flames follow their tilt with the Titans with stops at Youngstown State on January 3rd, and Loyola on January 6th.
