Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's basketball team heads back to game action this Saturday night with a road contest at Akron beginning at 6:00 p.m. Central. The Flames (8-4) will put their five-game winning streak on the line against the Zips (9-2), winners of their last four, at Rhodes Arena. Fans can hear the action live on air at WIND 560 AM or online at uicflames.com. Adam Levinson and Kenny McReynolds will call the contest. After taking some time off for the Christmas holiday, the Flames will seek to extend their season-long stretch of victories to six in their first of three consecutive contests in the state of Ohio. UIC's 8-4 record after 12 games is the Flames' best mark through a dozen contests since they began the 2003-04 NCAA Tournament campaign 9-3. Leading the Flames' charge is junior guard Josh Mayo. Mayo is shooting a blistering 60.6 percent (40-for-66) from behind the arc for the season while averaging a Horizon League-leading 19.0 points per game. Rookie guard Robert Kreps has been a force off the bench for the Flames of late. "Robo" is averaging 14.4 ppg during UIC's five-game winning streak. Senior forward Jermaine Dailey has also added some punch to the post. UIC is 5-1 with Dailey in the starting lineup this year. He has made his last 11 field goal attempts since the Flames' win over Green Bay on Dec. 8. Akron is led by senior forward Jeremiah Wood, who is averaging 13.7 ppg and 9.6 rpg.
