Van Lier Joins UIC Radio Broadcast Team|

Former Chicago Bulls guard Norm Van Lier has joined the University of Illinois at Chicago men's basketball radio broadcast team it was announced today.
Van Lier, who has worked as a host for both sports radio and television in the Chicago area, will provide the color commentary for the Flames' broadcasts, which are carried on ESPN Radio 1000. Dave Wills, a member of the Chicago White Sox broadcast team, returns for his third season as UIC's play-by-play annoucer.
Van Lier, a member of the Chicago Bulls from 1969 to 1979 and four-time member of the NBA All-Star Team, is currently in his ninth season as in-studio analyst for Fox Sports Chicago, where he hosts the pre-game, half-time and post-game analysis of the Chicago Bulls basketball games.
Previously, Van Lier co-hosted the popular daily drive-time sportstalk show "The Bull and the Bear" on WSCR-AM 1160 with longtime friend and Chicago Bears star Doug Buffone. He has also appeared on "Sports Sunday" on WMAQ-TV, Channel 5.
Additionally, Van Lier appears at engagements throughout the country as a motivational speaker while also lending his support to numerous charitable causes, including the Chicago Challenge which supports private education for inner city children.
Flames' fans will get their first chance to hear Wills and Van Lier when UIC hosts 1999 NIT finalist Oregon on Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 7:00 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion.
