Dave Wills To Call Men's Basketball Game At Milwaukee This Thursday
Nov. 30, 2009
CHICAGO- Dave Wills, the former radio play-by-play broadcaster of the UIC men's basketball team and current radio play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball's Tampa Bay Rays, will return to call the Flames' game at Milwaukee this Thursday, Dec. 3. Thursday's game between the Flames and the Panthers will air live on ESPN Radio 1000 AM at 7 p.m. Wills called UIC men's basketball games from 1997-2005 and was at press row for all three of the Flames' NCAA Tournament seasons. His memorable "The Flames are Dancin'!" calls after the 2002 and 2004 Horizon League tournament championship victories remain etched in UIC lore. "I'm looking forward to going back to the place where it all began," said Wills, who has called Rays games for the last five seasons, including the 2008 World Series campaign. "One of the highlights of my career occurred when the Flames beat Milwaukee up there to advance to the NCAA tournament in 2004. "Baseball is my first love, but college basketball is very, very close behind, and I am looking forward to Thursday night." Wills will fill in for regular Flames play-by-play voice Adam Levinson, who will return for the Flames' game at Green Bay on Dec. 5. UIC great Kenny Williams will join Wills with expert analysis, while Jordan Bernfield will serve as in-game host.
