CHICAGO- The third annual UIC Men's Basketball Season Tip-Off Breakfast took place on the morning of Saturday, Oct. 17, and Flames fans were treated to a sneak peek of Jimmy Collins' 2009-10 team as they endulged in a delicious meal courtesy of Connie's Pizza.

Season ticket holders, corporate sponsors and many more friends of the Flames were on hand to watch junior guard Robo Kreps and his teammates practice for the very first time this year.

"We're extremely thankful for the tremendous turnout and all the fans who came out to support this young team," said Collins. "From the perspective of the coaching staff, these young men did a great job for their first practice.

"I can see that the potential for us being a very competitive team this year is there," Collins said. "That potential can become reality if the guys stay focused on the goals we have for this team."

Among the newcomers who made an impact throughout the game was 6-foot-11 junior center K.C. Robbins, who proved to be a force in the paint with his rebounding and his nice offensive touch by the basket. 6-foot-5 Mylin Northern, who will see time up front and in the backcourt, was also very solid throughout the scrimmage with his shooting and aggressiveness.

Rookie Anthony Kelley, who also showed sweet shooting from behind the arc, launched a long-distance three that just bounced off the rim as the horn sounded.

The Flames' first test of the season will be an exhibition game against Lewis at the UIC Pavilion on Nov. 10 before the season opener against UIS on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. inside the Pavilion.
