CHICAGO - The official beginning of the 2013-14 college basketball season is less than two months away. In advance of the fourth season under the tutelage of head coach Howard Moore, the 2013-14 UIC men's basketball preseason prospectus is now available on

• UIC is prepping for its 67th men's basketball season. The Flames enter the 2013-14 campaign with 791 all-time wins, including 480 victories at the NCAA Division I level.
• UIC is also entering its 20th year as a member of the Horizon League. The Flames joined the League prior to the 1994-95 season.
• UIC is coming off an 18-win (18-16, 7-9 Horizon) season, the most victories since 2007-08. The Flames improved upon their win total from the 2011-12 campaign (8-22, 3-15 HL) by 10 victories, representing the 12th-largest turnaround in the nation.
• The Flames advanced to the postseason for the first time since 2004, defeating cross-town rival Chicago State in the first-round of the Tournmament (CIT). It marked UIC's first-ever postseason victory.
• Fourth-year head coach Howard Moore was awarded a three-year contract extension in April. The Windy City native will remain on the Flames' sidelines through at least the 2017-18 season.
• While the 2013-14 schedule is yet to be released, it was revealed in May that UIC will face Illinois, Northwestern and Loyola during the 2013 non-conference slate. Northwestern will visit the UIC Pavilion on Wednesday, Nov. 20; UIC and long-time Horizon League rival Loyola will meet in a non-conference game at Gentile Arena on Saturday, Dec. 7, and the Flames will take on Illinois at the United Center on Saturday, Dec. 28.
• UIC will return eight letterwinners from the 2012-13 campaign, including a pair of starters in senior forward Hayden Humes and junior guard/forward Marc Brown. Head coach Howard Moore brought in a five-member newcomer class, highlighted by former Purdue standout Kelsey Barlow, who sat out the 2012-13 campaign per NCAA transfer rules. The Flames will also welcome the services of senior forward/center Jordan Harks, a transfer from Central Arkansas, as well as a trio of freshmen: Markese McGuire (Elkhart, Ind./Memorial), Lance Whitaker (South Elgin, Ill./Bartlett) and Pat Birt (Plano, Texas/Plano East).
