Men's Basketball Reveals Nine Non-League Games For 2009-10

CHICAGO- Nine of the UIC men's basketball team's 2009-10 non-conference games were unveiled to the public on Wednesday, July 8, with a huge home game against Pac-10 foe Oregon State on tap this season. All dates and times will be released once the Flames' 2009-10 schedule has been finalized. UIC will host Oregon State, coached by Chicago-bred Craig Robinson, the brother of First Lady Michelle Obama and the brother-in-law of President Barack Obama. Other non-conference foes slated to venture to the UIC Pavilion this year are Illinois State, Northern Illinois and Toledo, coached by former Flames assistant coach Gene Cross. Road non-league contests include a trip to Madison, Wis., to take on the Wisconsin Badgers; a short drive up to Rosemont to face city rival DePaul; a BracketBusters return game against Southern Illinois in Carbondale, Ill.; a return to Akron, Ohio to face the Zips; and a road BracketBusters game. Four of the Flames' non-league foes were in postseason play last year. Wisconsin and Akron advanced to the NCAA Tournament, Illinois State earned an NIT bid and Oregon State won the College Basketball Invitational Championship. Once television and radio details have been finalized, additional dates and opponents will also be released.
