July 3, 2008

Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Bulls unveiled their 2008 Orland Pro Summer League roster this week, and the team will be represented by former UIC standout forward Justin Bowen.

Bowen, who has played professionally for the NBA Development League's Austin Toros the past two seasons, will join 2008 No. 1 overall draft pick Derrick Rose and current Bulls forwards Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah on Chicago's summer league squad.

The Bulls will hold a four-day mini-camp for the summer league team at the Berto Center this weekend before departing for Orlando, where they will play in five games in five days from July 7-11 at the RVD Sportsplex.

This marks the second time that Bowen has played for the Bulls summer league team, having done so with former UIC teammate Cedrick Banks in 2006.

Last season Bowen averaged 13.1 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in 46 contests for the Toros, bringing them one win away from the D-League championship. He averaged 16.0 ppg and 6.3 rpg in the D-League playoffs.

A three-year letterwinner for the Flames from 2003-04 until 2005-06, Bowen was a 2005-06 All-Horizon League Second Team selection who led the team in scoring (14.7 points) as a senior.

The Chicago native started 62 games and appeared in 90 during his UIC career. He played a key role as both as reserve and a starter on the Flames' 2004 Horizon League Championship squad.
