Men's Basketball To Participate In 2010 Coaches Vs. Cancer Classic

CHICAGO- The UIC men's basketball team will participate in next season's Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, The Gazelle Group announced on Monday, March 8. In addition to the Flames, the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic will feature Illinois, Texas, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Rhode Island, College of Charleston, UC Irvine, Toledo, Louisiana Tech, Navy and Seattle. The 16th annual season-opening tournament will feature regional round games at Texas, Illinois, Pitt and Maryland from Nov. 8-12. Those four schools will advance to the championship rounds at Madison Square Garden from Nov. 18-19, while subregional round games featuring the rest of the field will take place at either Toledo or UC Irvine during that same timeframe. The Coaches vs. Cancer program is a national collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches to raise awareness and reduce the risk of cancer. The Coaches vs. Cancer Classic has raised over $4.5 million for Coaches vs. Cancer. Matchups, locations and a complete 2010 Coaches vs. Cancer bracket will be announced at a later date.
