Men's Basketball Travels To Milwaukee For Horizon League First Round

CHICAGO- The UIC men's basketball team opens up the 2010 Speedway Horizon League Men's Basketball Championship this Tuesday, March 2 against Milwaukee at 7 p.m. The first-round meeting at U.S. Cellular Arena in Milwaukee between the ninth-seeded Flames (8-21) and the fourth-seeded Panthers (18-13) will be carried live on ESPN Radio 1000 AM with play-by-plan extraordinaire Adam Levinson, UIC great Kenny Williams and in-game host Jordan Bernfield courtside to call the action. Fans unable to get to the Brew City to see the game live can watch online on the Horizon League Network. The winner of Tuesday's game will meet the winner of the Loyola/Cleveland State game in a second round clash at Butler's Hinkle Fieldhouse this Friday, March 5 at 7 p.m. Central. UIC and Milwaukee will meet for the second time in four days, having played on Feb. 27 at the Pavilion in a game won by the Panthers, 78-74. The last four meetings between the two teams have been decided by an average of less than four points per game. The Flames and the Panthers last met in the Horizon League Championship at U.S. Cellular Arena in 2004, when UIC defeated Milwaukee in the league's tournament title game to advance to the NCAA tournament. Junior guard Robo Kreps leads the Flames in scoring at 15.0 ppg, while Jeremy Buttell is the Flames' top rebounder with 7.6 rpg. Kreps is averaging 20.8 ppg in the Flames' last four games.
