Chicago, Ill. - The UIC men's basketball team takes a break from Horizon League play on Saturday afternoon to take part in the O'Reilly ESPNU BracketBusters event, which will pit the Flames (10-17) versus Central Michigan (10-14) at 3:30 p.m. at the UIC Pavilion. This is the fifth season of the BracketBusters series and marks UIC's fifth appearance in annual event. The Flames are 3-1 in their four prior BracketBusters games. UIC enters its tilt with the Chippewas on the heels of a 65-55 loss to UW-Green Bay on Wednesday night at the Pavilion. Central Michigan, meanwhile, has won its last two games, including a 71-66 triumph at home over Western Michigan on Wednesday. The Chippewas are the fourth Mid-American Conference team the Flames have faced this season. UIC defeated Northern Illinois and Akron back in December while suffering a setback on the road to Miami (OH) in November. Junior Robert Bush has given the Flames a lift of late, scoring in double figures in each of the last three games since being inserted into the starting rotation. Junior Othyus Jeffers, a 6-foot-5 forward, continues to pace UIC in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.9 rpg). Central Michigan is led by junior guard Giordan Watson (18.4 ppg). Saturday's game is sponsored by UPS.
