    CHICAGO (AP) - Roger Powell scored 17 points and No. 20 Illinois used its inside strength to dominate the rebounding and beat Illinois-Chicago 75-60 on Tuesday night.

    Using a 19-4 run, the Illini (8-2) raced to a 32-14 lead midway through the first half and coasted to their 11th win in 12 meetings with UIC. Illinois also improved to 23-6 all-time at the United Center. UIC (9-4) was playing in the building for the first time ever, even though its campus is only a mile away.

    Luther Head and James Augustine each scored 13 points for the Illini, who had a 52-34 rebounding edge behind 11 boards from Brian Randle.

    Armond Williams scored 14 to pace UIC. Cedric Banks, the Flames' leading scorer, had nine, well under his 19.6 average.

    Head hit three 3-pointers and the Illini shot 53 percent in the first half to take a 44-27 lead. Powell led the Illini with 13 points and seven rebounds, while UIC missed 20 of its first 27 shots and made only 11 of 38 in the half - 29 percent. For the game, the Flames were 24-of-67 (36 percent).

    UIC got within 13 in the second half, but Augustine hit a hook from the lane and then converted a thunderous dunk on a fastbreak pass from Dee Brown as the Illini regained control and eventually built the lead to 21 points.
