BAYAMON, Puerto Rico (AP) - Theandre Kimbrough had 18 points, seven assists and five steals, leading Illinois-Chicago to a 90-64 victory over American University of Puerto Rico Thursday in the seventh-place game of the Puerto Rico Holiday Classic.

The win snapped a five-game losing streak for the Flames (4-8) and was their first on the road since Jan. 7, when they won at Cleveland State, a stretch of 11 games.

Kimbrough, who was coming off a career-high 26 points in a 67-62 loss to Boston College, was 7-of-11 from the field. He was 4-for-4 in the first half as Illinois-Chicago took a 45-26 lead.

The closest the Pirates (0-8), the Division II host school for the eight-team tournament, got the rest of the way was 16 points, 55-39 with 13:15 to play. The Flames' biggest lead was 88-56 with 1:34 left.

Jonathan Schneiderman had 15 points, all on 3-for-5 shooting from 3-point range and 6-for-6 from the foul line, for the Flames, while Ian Hanavan added 13.

Joseph Rodriguez had 15 points for American, which finished with 28 turnovers, and Jesus Rivera added 13.

The loss was the closest of the three in the tournament for the Pirates, who lost 102-58 to No. 11 Tennessee in the opening round and 102-65 to Massachusetts.
