CORVALLIS, Ore. - Host Oregon State raced out to a double-digit lead less than seven minutes into the game, and never looked back in a convincing 95-53 win over the UIC men's basketball team at Gill Coliseum in Corvallis, Ore., Tuesday night.

With the setback, UIC moves to 3-6 on the season, while Oregon State upped its record to 7-2.

Junior guard Daniel Barnes and freshman point guard Greg Travis each scored a game-high eight points for UIC. The Beavers were led by Roberto Nelson, who poured in a game-high 21 points to lead four Oregon State players in double figures.

Oregon State held a 45-21 lead at halftime, led by Nelson, who scored 10 points in the opening frame. UIC opened the second half on a 7-2 run to pull within 19 points (47-28), but could draw no closer.

The Beavers, who came into the game ranked fifth in the nation in steals per game, swiped 15 steals, and also became only the second team to out-rebound (45-26) UIC this season. Oregon State out-scored the Flames 44-20 in the paint, 26-12 off turnovers, 16-0 on the fast break, and 44-26 through its bench.

All 15 players saw action for UIC, including a season-high 14 minutes of action for freshman Rob Robinson, who scored a career-high four points, all in the first half. Sophomore forward Hayden Humes and seniors Paris Carter and Darrin Williams each chipped in six points. Williams pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

UIC will wrap up its two-game road trip at Central Michigan on Friday (Dec. 16). The Chippewas (4-5) dropped a 76-56 decision at Minnesota Tuesday night. Tip-off from Rose Arena is set for 7 p.m. CST.
