University of Illinois at Chicago men's basketball coach Jimmy Collins said prior to Tuesday's exhibition game against Marathon Oil that his squad was itching to play someone other than themselves.

If the Flames 107-93 victory over Marathon Oil was any indication of things to come, no team will want to play UIC anytime soon.

Seven different players scored in double-digits as the Flames took an early 15-14 lead and never looked back.

Sophomore forward Maurice Brown led the Flames with 20 points followed by Jordan Kardos (18 points), Jonathan Schneiderman (13 points), Thor Solverson (13 points), J.P. Mitchom (11 points), Cory Little (10 points) and Joel Bullock (10 points).

"I thought we did a lot of things right tonight," Collins said. "Several players stepped up to the plate. They ran the offense well, shot well and hit the boards hard. We still have a lot of work to do. But with this team we'll get it done."

Former UIC standout and scoring leader Kenny Williams led Marathon Oil with 22 points. Josh Wilhelm added 21 points for Marathon, followed by Jerry Carstensen (18 points) and Malcolm Sims (10 points).

The wide margin of victory provided Collins the opportunity to see his walk-ons in action.

Corry Tibbs got his name in the scorebook with 2:16 remaining in the game as he converted a free throw. Tyrone Moten, Claude Murrell and Terry Muse also saw action for the Flames.

Collins rested sophomore starting forward Joe Scott in order to treat his case of achilles tendonitis

The Flames will be back in action on Wednesday, November 15 as they will take on MAFC KE Budapest Hungary at the UIC Pavilion. The game will begin at 7:00 P.M.
