Coaching is in Matt Ryan's blood as he joins Howard Moore's UIC staff as the Director of Basketball Operations having previously served as the video coordinator under his father, Bo Ryan, at the University Wisconsin.
Ryan filled the video coordinator role for three years from 2007-10. He was responsible for the team's film exchange program, editing scout and teaching tapes, as well as the Badgers year-end highlight video.
In addition to his work in Madison, Ryan served as a Basketball Operations Administrator and lead video coordinator for Team USA at the World University Games in 2009. The Red, White and Blue, coached by his father, captured the bronze medal in Serbia.
Ryan is no stranger to the bench, having served as head junior varsity coach at Brentwood High School in California from 2004-06 when he led his squad to its only conference title in school history. He has also served as an AAU coach and a high school assistant at several stops across Wisconsin. Ryan has also served as a counselor as several UW Basketball Camps dating back to 2001.
A Milwaukee graduate, Ryan earned his bachelor's degree in history in 2003. He was a member of the Panthers basketball team from 1999-2001, first as a team manager and practice player before earning a full scholarship in his second season.
