Chicago, Ill.- After months of construction the FieldTurf project at Les Miller Field is complete, with the culmination coming this past Friday (Oct. 26) when the UIC baseball team had its first practice on the new surface.

"We're just ecstatic," said UIC head coach Mike Dee. "The FieldTurf is better than what we had hoped for. We encountered a situation where it rained all night on Friday, but by the time our practice was scheduled to start on Saturday morning the field was dry.

"It's a marvelous surface that we will now get to use every single day."

The past week was used to put in the cryogenic rubber infill and put the finishing touches on the entire surface.
