    CHICAGO - The UIC baseball program has sent 21 players to collegiate summer leagues across the nation. Several of the student-athletes are well into their seasons and are continuing their success from this past year. This season the Flames were well-known offensively. They finished the 2014 campaign ranked 11th in the nation in on-base percentage (.393), 12th in batting average (.304) and 15th in runs per game (6.6).

    UIC has seven players competing across the Chicago Suburban Baseball League. Jack Andersen and Ian Lewandowski are playing for the Lombard Orioles, who are 5-0 on the season. Lewandowski currently ranks fourth in ERA on the team with a mark of 2.33. The Orioles were very successful last season and were crowned champions of the North division of the CSBL.

    Tommy Field and Joe Rossi are competing on the Homestead Ranchers, while David Cronin and Carl Sugihara are competing on the Westmont Red Sox, both of which belong to the Chicago Suburban Baseball League. Sugihara currently owns a .273 average in three games for the Red Sox.

    Also in the Chicago Suburban Baseball League are the Romeoville Royals where Brian Evak has an ERA of 1.17 and ranks fourth on the team.

    The Hays Larks of the Jayhawk League are joined by Tyler Detmer, who ranks second on the team in batting average with .419. In the Metro Collegiate Summer Baseball League, Gabe Dwyer plays for the Des Plaines Patriots where he is ranked third in batting average with .333.


     

     

    Connor Philbin and Ryan Hinchley joined the Dupage Hounds of the Midwest Collegiate League. Philbin will begin playing after recovery from a foot injury suffered in the last game of the Flames' season. Last summer Philbin accumulated a .261 batting average in 30 games for the Hounds.

     Jeff Boehm will also be competing in the Midwest Collegiate League for the Southland Vikings after his recovery from a broken finger. Michael Stahoviak and Tyler Murphy are competing on the Northern Knights which is a part of the Metro Collegiate Summer Baseball League.

    In the Walter Johnson League, Zenon Kolakowski and Ricardo Ramirez are playing for the Hutchinson Monarchs. Out west in the California Collegiate League Mickey McDonald will be competing for the Neptune Beach Pearl.

    Alex Posey has joined the Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plains League, and Mitch Schulewitz has joined the Kenosha Kingfish of the Northwoods League. The Crystal Lake Cardinals have added Andrew Reisinger to their roster, and Brett Krause has joined the Sheboygan A's of the Wisconsin State League.
