CHICAGO- UIC true freshman catcher Nathan Orf (Wentzville, Mo./Francis Howell H.S.) was named to the 2009 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American Baseball Team chosen by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced on Wednesday, June 3.

Orf had a fine rookie season, hitting a whopping .429 (48-for-112) with 10 doubles and 17 RBI in 36 total games that included 27 starts.

A 2009 All-Horizon League Second Team selection and League All-Newcomer Team pick, Orf had 12 multi-hit games and led the team with four games of four hits or more. He hit .750 (6-for-8) with two doubles and a 5-for-5 game during the 2009 Horizon League Baseball Championship.

This is the second straight season that a UIC rookie has garnered Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball. Outfielder Steve McGuiggan earned similar accolades after his debut campaign in 2008.
