CHICAGO – CollegeSportsMadness.com has named senior Ryan Boss the Horizon League Player of the Week for the period of May 6-12 as announced on Tuesday morning.  Boss paced UIC at the plate last week by totaling a .500 batting average (9-of-18) with three doubles and five RBI.  The Flames racked up a 3-1 record in four games, including a series sweep against Valparaiso to obtain sole possession of second place in the Horizon League standings.

On Senior Day at Les Miller Field, Boss capped off his home career by hitting 3-for-4 from the dish with three RBI.  Boss now ranks second on the team with a .302 batting average, while leading the Flames in slugging percentage (.503) and triples (4).

Teammate Tomas Michelson was selected as the Horizon League Pitcher of the Week by the conference office for his performance against Valpo this past Friday.  Michelson piloted UIC to 3-0 series-opening win as the sophomore captured his first career complete game shutout.

The Flames will head to Wright State for a three-game series beginning on Thursday to conclude regular season action before preparing for the 2013 Horizon League Tournament the following week which is hosted by Youngstown State.
