Baseball Looks To Stay Hot In Atlanta|
May 6, 2010
ATLANTA - The UIC baseball team will take on perhaps its strongest competition of the season this weekend when it heads south to take on the No. 7 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a three-game non-conference set.
UIC (17-23, 10-7 Horizon League) enters the weekend on an offensive tear. The Flames have scored 80 runs in their last six contests, while limiting the opposition to just 24. Mike Dee's squad is batting .391 (88-225) during that stretch with a .495 on-base percentage and 16 stolen bases.
Georgia Tech (36-9, 17-7 ACC) comes into the contest ranked No. 7 in the country by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The Yellow Jackets entered last weekend ranked No. 4, but dropped two-of-three to North Carolina State over the weekend. Head coach Danny Hall's team has fallen in three of their last four weekend series.
These two teams have met once before in a three-game set, early in the season in 2007. UIC won the middle game of that series after rallying for nine runs in the top of the ninth to grab an 11-4 comeback victory.
Friday's game begins at 6:00 p.m. CT at Russ Chandler Stadium in Atlanta. Saturday's first pitch is set for 5:00 p.m., while Sunday's matinee will get underway at 12:00 p.m. CT.
GameTracker and Live Radio will be available for all three games. In addition there will be an interactive in-game blog available right here, as well.
