Baseball Set to Host Milwaukee for a Three-Game Series

CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team welcomes Horizon League-foe Milwaukee to Les Miller Field for a three-game set, beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. The Panthers took two-of-three from the Flames earlier this season at Henry Aaron Field, but UIC has history on its side as they own a 30-20 advantage over UWM since 2004 and have captured seven of the last 10 season series’.
The Flames are coming off a heartbreaking 9-7 loss against Northern Illinois at home on Wednesday night as the Huskies drove in two runs in the ninth inning to seal the non-conference victory. Junior Joey Begel will take the mound for UIC on Friday night as the righty leads the team with five wins, 11 starts and 72.2 innings pitched. Freshmen Brian Evak and Tim Tarter will received the nod on Saturday on Sunday, respectively. The Flames currently sit fourth in the league standings at 9-12.
Milwaukee enters the weekend ranked third in the Horizon League standings at 10-11 with a 17-24 overall record. The Panthers have lost their last four games, including a three-game set against Valpo and a one-run loss at Iowa this past Tuesday. UWM’s rotation will be as followed: Junior Eric Semmelheck, junior Cale Tassi and sophomore Mike Schneider.
