    UIC Baseball Game Notes in PDF Format Get Acrobat Reader

    Chicago, Ill.- The UIC baseball team embarks on a six-game road stretch that begins this weekend at Horizon League rival Youngstown State.

    The Flames (19-10, 8-1 Horizon League) and the Penguins (10-19, 3-3 Horizon League) begin their three-game series at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio on Friday at a new start time of 2 p.m. Eastern/1 p.m. Central.

    Junior RHP Derrick Miramontes will take the mound first for UIC, bringing his 4-0 record and league-best 1.69 earned run average in a matchup against Youngstown State RHP Chuck Schiffhauer (1-2, 2.65 ERA), who owns the league's second-best ERA.

    UIC has won seven of its last 10 games entering the weekend.

    Rookie CF Steve McGuiggan continues to pace the Flames' with a .381 batting average. The true freshman has a 12-game hitting streak heading into the YSU series.

    Fellow freshman Rafael Garcia is hitting .529 (9-for-17) in UIC's last five contests.
