Baseball Welcomes Indiana State for a Tuesday Night Showdown
April 3, 2012
CHICAGO – The UIC baseball team steps out of Horizon League play on Tuesday night for a home contest against Missouri Valley Conference member Indiana State at 6 p.m. CT. Tuesday’s meeting will be the first ever game between the two schools and the Flames second MVC opponent this season (Bradley). The non-conference bout will feature two freshman pitchers as UIC’s south paw Tim Tarter and ISU’s right-hander Kyle Rupe take the mound.
The Flames enter Tuesday’s matchup winning six of their last eight games, including an 8-5 victory over Big East-foe Notre Dame last week at home. UIC holds a strong 6-1 mark at Les Miller Field so far this season with its only loss coming in the final contest of a three-game series versus Northwestern. The Flames currently ranked tied for second in the Horizon League with a 5-4 mark.
Guiding UIC at the plate is redshirt sophomore Ryan Boss with a .300 batting average and a .583 slugging percentage, which ranks second in the conference. Redshirt junior Nick Addison paces the Horizon League with 11 steals as do the Flames with a team total of 21.
