Baseball Adds Pitcher Mike Schoolcraft To 2010 Class
March 30, 2009
CHICAGO- UIC head baseball coach Mike Dee announced on Monday, Mar. 30 that right-handed pitcher Mike Schoolcraft (Palatine, Ill./Fremd H.S.) will join the Flames' pitching staff in the fall of 2009 after returning his Intent to Enroll form to the University.
Schoolcraft is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound hurler coached by Chris Piggott at Fremd.
"Mike has a very athletic delivery and already pitches at 86-88 mph with his fastball," said UIC assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Mike Nall. "He also has a sharp curveball with good depth. In addition, his body type and work ethic lead me to believe that he will throw harder in the very near future.
"He is very competitive and fit in great with our current players on his campus visit."
Schoolcraft will join a class of incoming pitchers this fall that already includes RHPs Joey Begel (Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.), Jake Powers (Cottleville, Mo./Howell Central H.S.) and Charlie Weinberg (Eagan, Minn./Eagan H.S.) and LHP Tim Suminski (Milwaukee, Wis./Parkway Christian H.S.), who signed with the Flames last fall.
