Baseball Looks To Top Notre Dame
March 24, 2010
CHICAGO - The UIC baseball team will seek to end a five-game losing skid this afternoon when they travel east to take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 4:05 p.m. CT.
This is the second straight season that the two teams will meet on the diamond. On April 28th of last year, the Flames won a 10-5 contest at Frank Eck Stadium with the help of a five-run seventh inning. The frame was highlighted by Chris Rutta's three-run blast.
Freshman LHP Tim Suminski is slated to be on the bump this afternoon for the Flames. He has made five appearances out of the bullpen in the early going for UIC, but this will be his first career start.
Suminski will be opposed by Notre Dame RHP Patrick Veerkamp.
