CHICAGO - Construction of the new Curtis Granderson Stadium on the campus of UIC continues to make significant progress as crews look to finalize the multi-million dollar venue during the warmer weather forecasted for March.  The most noticeable addition has been the installation of nearly 1,200 blue chair-back seats that come equipped with arm rests and cup holders.

Grand opening for Curtis Granderson stadium is tentatively scheduled for Thursday April 17, when the Flames play host to Horizon League-foe Wright State at 4 p.m. CT.  Be sure to check back into UICFlames.com for more details about opening day.

On Sept. 17, 2013, UIC held a groundbreaking ceremony for Curtis Granderson Stadium in which hundreds of invited guests attended.  Granderson announced his pledge for the project on Feb. 6, 2013 at his UIC jersey retirement event and the University Board of Trustees gave the concept a green light with their official approval on May 30.
