CHICAGO – UIC baseball’s home opener on Tuesday has been cancelled due to heavy amounts of snowfall expected for the city of Chicago.  Early forecasts project the storm to begin early Tuesday morning and accumulate up to 10 inches of snow within a 24-hour period.

The Flames’ weekend series with reigning Big Ten champion Purdue is still scheduled to commence on Friday at 4 p.m. CT.  UIC just wrapped up a three-game stint at #2 Vanderbilt where the Flames forced the Commodores into extra innings in Sunday.  The Flames equaled Vanderbilt’s six runs over the last 18 innings of the series and held the Dores scoreless in 17 total frames over the weekend.  UIC also restricted Vandy to a batting average of .241.  The Flames have now played six nationally-ranked opponents in its first nine games of the season.
