Baseball Heads To QTI Baylor Classic
Feb. 28, 2008
Chicago, Ill.- The UIC baseball team heads to Waco, Texas to take part in the third annual QTI Baylor Classic at Baylor Ballpark beginning this Friday.
The Flames (0-3) will meet Stephen F. Austin (3-2) on Friday at 2 p.m. to begin the festivities. That will be followed by a Saturday showdown against the host Bears (4-0) at 6:30 p.m.
The event closes out for UIC on Sunday morning against sister school Illinois (2-1) at 11 a.m.
Saturday's game against Baylor is available to watch online via BaylorBears.com.
A new-look UIC club featuring six first-time Division I starting position players and a pair of pitchers making their inaugural starts in a Flames uniform gave No. 22 Tulane all it could handle on its home field last weekend.
UIC had a fine showing out of its bullpen last weekend, as five of the seven relievers used during the three-game set against the Green Wave did not allow an earned run in at least an inning of work.
Schedule Note: The Flames just added a three-game series to the schedule against Trinity Christian at Les Miller Field, with a game on Friday, April 25 at 7:05 p.m. and a doubleheader the following day on Saturday, April 26 beginning at 1:05 p.m.
