    East Cleveland, Ohio - University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore hurler Ryan Zink earned his second complete-game victory of the season, scattering eight hits and two runs, to propel the visiting Flames to their fourth-consecutive win, with the 8-2 Horizon League victory over Cleveland State in Game One of their doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Forest Hill Park.

    Zink improved to 4-5 on the season and struck out four batters. Cleveland State starter Jeff Katlen (0-4) was tagged with the loss, surrendering eight runs and seven hits in 6.1 innings of work.

    With the victory, UIC improves to 27-17-1 overall and 8-6 in Horizon League play, while the Vikings drop to 9-29 on the campaign and 2-12 in Horizon League action.

    Sophomore centerfielder Larry Gempp Jr. led the way for the Flames at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI triple.

    Freshman first baseman Mark Hallberg extended his hitting streak to 16 games, going 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a RBI. Junior catcher Ben Trotter and senior right fielder Shane Crowder each recorded RBI triples.

    With his infield single in the seventh inning, senior third baseman Bryan Russo has reached base in 37 straight games.

    Cleveland State senior catcher Dominic Erney led the Vikings offensively, going 2-for-2 with a RBI.

    UIC and Cleveland State will conclude their four-game series on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. (CST).
