    Chicago, Ill. - Junior first baseman Chris Kerpan made the most of his first start of the season as the Waukegan, Ill., native went 4-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored to lead the University of Illinois at Chicago to the 15-0 victory over MacMurray College on Tuesday night.

    With the victory, UIC improves to 32-14 on the campaign, while MacMurray falls to 6-26.

    UIC also received solid offensive performances from second baseman Bryan Russo (2-for-6, 4 RBI, run) and outfielder J.P. Carey (3-for-4, two runs, RBI) on Tuesday night.

    Freshman Ryan Hopkins (1-0) picked up his first collegiate victory, going four innings and allowing one hit, while striking out two batters in his first career start. Eric Carlson, Scott Anderson and David Haehnel helped preserve the shutout with five innings of scoreless relief.

    UIC will be back in action on Friday afternoon, as they will travel to Michigan to take on Detroit in a Horizon League battle at 2:00 p.m. (CST).
