    Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago junior left-hander Ryan Gehring tossed a complete-game, five-hitter as the Flames salvaged the doubleheader sweep with an 8-1 Horizon League victory over Cleveland State in their twinbill at Les Miller Field on Sunday afternoon.

    Cleveland State claimed the 3-2 extra-inning, victory in the opener.

    Gehring (7-4) snapped a two-game losing streak, allowing just one run and striking out two batters in seven innings.

    Offensively, four different players connected for two hits for the Flames, while seniors J.P. Moran and Brad Ryan each picked up two RBI.

    With the victory, UIC improves to 27-14 overall and 9-3 in Horizon League action, while the Vikings fall to 11-23 on the campaign and 8-7 in conference play.

    Cleveland State starter Matt Kaltenbach (3-4) took the loss for the Vikings, giving up seven runs and nine hits in four innings.

    Vikings' second baseman Brian Lombardi led CSU offensively, going 2-for-3 on the afternoon.

    UIC will be back in action on Tuesday evening, as they will square off with Western Michigan in a non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m. at Les Miller Field.
