Baseball Blanks Chicago State, 13-0 April 30, 2008
Chicago, Ill.- Everything clicked for the UIC baseball team during a 13-0 victory over Chicago State at Les Miller Field on Wednesday night. The Flames (24-18) compiled 16 hits and broke the game open with a seven-run fifth inning, while nine UIC pitchers combined for a five-hit shutout. Rafael Garcia homered and drove in four runs, and Kevin Coddington also went yard. UIC scored a pair of runs in the second and third innings before batting around in the fifth. Garcia hit a three-run shot, and Jake Carr drove in three runs on a pair of singles during the frame. The Flames have scored in double figures in the last three games for a combined total of 44 runs during that stretch. UIC begins a three-game Horizon League series at Cleveland State in Lorain, Ohio this Friday night.
