Baseball Earns 8-3 Triumph Over Butler|

Indianapolis, Ind. - University of Illinois at Chicago sophomore hurler Zach Peterson picked up his sixth consecutive victory and third in as many appearances, as the Minnetonka, Minn., native scattered three runs and 10 hits in six innings of work, lifting the Flames to the 8-3 Horizon League victory over Butler on Friday afternoon at Bulldog Park.
Peterson improved to 7-1 on the season and struck out four batters in the victory. Junior reliever Jason Foster tossed three innings of scoreless relief while fanning one, to earn his fourth save of the year.
Butler starter Jim Knytych (2-5) was tagged with the loss, allowing six runs, five hits and four walks in 4.1 innings pitched.
With the victory, UIC improves to 22-16-1 overall and 4-5 in Horizon League play, while the host Bulldogs drop to 13-24 on the campaign, and 1-4 in conference action.
UIC leftfielder Bart Babineaux (1-for-2, 2 RBI, 2 runs) connected for his third homer of the season, a two-run shot in the top of the third inning, while teammates Mark Hallberg (2 RBI, run) and Shane Crowder (2 runs) each collected two hits on the afternoon.
Butler second baseman Joe Pauley (2 RBI) and third baseman Alex Rinearson (RBI) each went 3-for-4 to lead the Bulldogs at the plate.
UIC and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader, beginning at 12:00 p.m. (CST).
