Junior southpaw Ryan Gehring (6-2) picked up the victory for the Flames, allowing one run and four hits, while striking out four batters. Junior reliever David Haehnel tossed a scoreless ninth-inning, while striking out two, to pick up his third save of the season.

Senior left fielder Mike Hughes led UIC offensively, going 3-for-4 with a RBI, while senior shortstop Jordan DeVoir chipped in two hits.

With the score tied at one in the bottom of the seventh inning, senior outfielders J.P. Moran and Shane Crowder each connected for one-out singles, putting runners at first and third for junior second baseman Bryan Russo.

Russo sent a grounder to IPFW third baseman Ty Tornincasa, who was unable to handle the ball, allowing Moran to score the winning run.
